A guard at the Silverdale Correctional Facility has been arrested on a charge of smuggling drugs into work, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Lucas Lorenzo Collins, 25, of 6114 Welworth Ave. in East Ridge, was charged with two counts of smuggling contraband into a penal institution, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Collins, an employee of Corrections Corporation of America, which operates Silverdale, arrived at work and was stopped by detectives, who found contraband, the news release stated.
He was taken to the Hamilton County Jail, where more contraband was found in his clothing. He was booked and released on a $31,000 bond.
The arrest was the result of a two-month investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Narcotics and Special Operations Division in conjunction with the Alcohol Beverage Commission and the Drug Enforcement Administration, the release said.
