Let’s handle our business.

Rushmore of Jefferson — Thomas (of course), George is movin’ on up this Rushmore too, Jefferson Airplane and Charles Jefferson, the star RB for Ridgemont in the documentary “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” played by Forrest Whittaker. I heard they only flew him for games.

Rushmore of comedians taken from us way too soon — Candy, Belushi, Pryor and Williams. (Another tough one because it pains me not to include Chris Farley.)

Rushmore of three-named athletes — Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Florence Griffith Joyner, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and SGA (local tie-breaker factored in).

Rushmore of sad songs (and simply put, this one was impossible, so fire away about the misses) — “Tears in Heaven,” “Cats in the Cradle,” and in terms of always making me emotional “Hallelujah” by Jeff Buckley. Country version, which is more important to me: “There Goes My Life” by Kenny Chesney, “Whiskey Lullaby,” by Brad Paisley and Alison Krause, “That’s My Job” by Conway Twitty and while I could really put everything by Red Sovine here, I go “Chiseled in Stone” by Vern Gosdin and that’s without a couple of Willie’s all-timers and “Crazy” by Patsy. And that’s not getting into movie soundtracks or any number of guaranteed tear-jerkers from animated movies. See, “Story, Toy.”
