The Catoosa County man who allegedly shot his daughter in the head has been charged with murder.

William Woodall, 75, was originally charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm while attempting to commit a felony after allegedly telling deputies he was responsible for the gunshot wound to his daughter’s head.

When Catoosa County sheriff’s deputies responded Saturday to a house in Rossville after reports of shots fired, they found Woodall standing outside. Inside, Carrie Ann Woodall, William Woodall’s daughter, was still alive and receiving first aid from a neighbor for a gunshot wound to her head, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.

If Carrie Ann Woodall, 53, died from her injuries, the Sheriff’s Office would seek additional charges against William Woodall, the press release said. The original two charges against William Woodall are listed with Sunday’s date. The murder charge was added Monday.
