CommonSpirit Health, the hospital system formerly called CHI Memorial in Chattanooga, reached a two-year agreement with Cigna for health insurance plans provided through employers.

CommonSpirit facilities in Tennessee and Georgia, including the Chattanooga Heart Institute, announced the agreement Thursday.

Cigna members on Open Access and LocalPlus plans can maintain their in-network access to CommonSpirit hospitals, the heart institute and physicians with the CommonSpirit Medical Group.

The agreement is retroactive to Feb. 1, the date CommonSpirit went out-of-network with Cigna, the hospital system said. CommonSpirit operates multiple clinics and three hospitals in the area: CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital Chattanooga, CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital Hixson and CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital North Georgia, which opened in January in Ringgold.
