Volkswagen has unveiled the latest model of one of its top-selling SUVs — one of three vehicles the German automaker manufactures in Chattanooga.

The Atlas, a seven-seat vehicle VW first launched in 2017, made up about 21% of the company’s roughly 329,800 auto sales in America in 2025. Volkswagen sold 71,000 units of the Atlas in 2025 and almost 31,600 units of its smaller counterpart, the Atlas Cross Sport.

Volkswagen’s overall car sales in America declined in 2025 compared to 2024, dropping 13% from almost 379,200 to 329,800. That included the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport, which decreased respectively from 75,500 to 71,000 and 38,900 to 31,600 over that time frame.
