A gallon of gas in Chattanooga is now $1 more expensive than it was a month ago.

Gas prices hit an average of $3.66 per gallon in Chattanooga on Monday, according to numbers provided by AAA. That’s compared to $2.52 one month ago and $2.58 one year ago.

When the spike began in early March, AAA linked the surging prices to the ongoing conflict in Iran, where U.S. and Israeli bombardments began on Feb. 28.

In Chattanooga, gas prices hit $3.07 per gallon on March 9 — a 50-cent jump — before rising another roughly 23 cents on March 16 to $3.30 and another 36 cents March 23 to $3.66.
