Fare Exchange: Reader seeks grilling tips as summer approaches

Good morning, readers. We begin today with the talking points, which turned out to be also the asking points, from a conversation among friends. The next paragraph will approximate that conversation.

“I’m looking at the weekly ad from my favorite store. I like the idea of meatballs but have no idea which storebought ones are worth buying. I would like to know that, but I’d also like to have any reader’s favorite homemade meatball recipe. I went to Velo coffee house this week and tried the protein cookie. Have checked their website, but it has no information. It was tasty, and I would like the recipe, or a recipe for any reader’s favorite protein cookie. This one had raisins and oatmeal. And there were several brands of store-bought guacamole in the buy one get one grocery ad I consulted. As with the meatballs, I want to know which brand actually tastes homemade, instead of shiny and runny, and also any reader’s favorite homemade guac recipe.”

Before we move to recipes, a reader hid a question in an answer.

E. E. wrote, “My son recommended to me cooking boneless chicken thighs. I haven’t ever bought them. A friend gave him this marinade recipe, but not any instructions for grilling. Here’s the marinade. I will swap for the grilling instructions.”
