The Chattanooga Zoo, 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave., is sponsoring a family-friendly Ice Cream Safari on Friday, June 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.
With the purchase of a safari wristband, visitors can enjoy ice cream, face painting, bounce houses, animal encounters and animal-enrichment programs.
Wristbands bought by today between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the zoo gift shop or online are $5; the cost rises to $8 on Friday, if any remain. Wristbands do not include zoo admission, which is $9.95 adults, $6.95 children, or free for zoo members.
The zoo will close at 3 p.m. Friday in order to prepare for the safari, then reopen at 4 p.m.
Ice cream vendors include Mayfield Dairy Farms, Baskin-Robbins, MoonPie, Clumpies Ice Cream, The Ice Cream Show, Dairy Queen, Whole Foods and Food City.
“We are always looking for different ways for our guests to enjoy the zoo while beating the summer heat, and we think Ice Cream Safari proved to do just that last year,” says Darde Long, Chattanooga Zoo president and chief executive officer.
