A teenage driver was arrested Friday after reportedly trying to hit someone with her car outside Brainerd High School, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
The school resource deputy assigned to Brainerd High saw the driver driving recklessly in the school’s parking lot around 3:15 p.m., and it appeared like she was trying to strike another person, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
“Preliminary evidence indicates that the suspect had targeted this individual that they were attempting to run over,” the release said.
The deputy turned on their car’s emergency lights and siren, but the driver did not stop, initiating a pursuit, according to the office.
The driver was brought to a stop on Shepherd Road, where she was taken into custody.
She faces charges including aggravated domestic assault, evading arrest and driving without a license, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Details are limited as the driver is under 18 years old.
