The 6th Cavalry Museum’s 1942 Willys Jeep is back at the museum and in top running order because of Joe Barkley and his family. Joe and his wife, Karen, have volunteered at the museum for more than 10 years and took the Jeep home with them to Oak Ridge, Tenn., so they could work on the motor, brakes and other mechanical issues.
“We’re so thankful to the Barkleys for all their hard work. It’s such a thrill for our visitors to take a ride when we have our World War II Living History Days,” commented Durinda Cheek, museum president. “It takes special skills to work on a 79-year-old Jeep, and we’re so fortunate that Joe and his sons have that knowledge.”
