A Catoosa County magistrate judge who was hauled out the courthouse in June and has been barred from returning to his office has turned himself this morning.
Magistrate Judge Anthony Peters was charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct in connection with an incident on June 16 at the Catoosa County Courthouse, Sheriff Phil Summers said. An altercation between Peters and his boss, Chief Magistrate Judge Donald “Sonny” Caldwell, led to the charges.
At about 9:30 a.m. today, Peters voluntarily surrendered at the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office and was booked on the two misdemeanor charges. He posted a cash bond of $1,000 and was released pending further court action in regards to this case, Summers said.
In June, after a heated confrontation over a complaint Peters filed against Caldwell, Peters was escorted from the courthouse in handcuffs but no charges were filed.
Peters then filed warrants against Summers and several other sheriff’s deputies, including a charge that they falsely arrested him.
Summers then filed a warrant against Peters for criminal trespassing.
