Alabama school offers incentive for inclusion in will

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama is offering faculty and staff who include the school in their wills up to $250 for attorney fees to draw up the document.

Joe Busta, the university’s vice president for development and alumni relations, says the reimbursement would be for including a planned gift to the university’s 2010 Faculty/Staff Annual Fund.

Busta says that in difficult economic times it’s easier for people to make a gift they don’t have to pay for out of their paycheck.

USA employees are facing their third year without a pay raise. Busta says the reimbursements will come from private gift money. He says that since the offer was announced, a half-dozen people have either made a gift or announced plans to do so.
