Construction should begin in the next couple of months on Twin Creeks Marina and Resort in Winchester, Tenn., according to developers and city officials. The facility is planned to have more than 200 boats slips, a marine dealership, hotel accommodations, RV and tent camping, a bar and grill and a restaurant that features local flavors. Here, water fowl stretch their wings in the shallows of Tims Ford Lake during the summer of 2015. The marina and resort project site is situated on the far shore from this location and a few hundred yards to the right.Bulldozers are finally clearing the way for Twin Creeks Marina and Resort as the long-awaited Winchester, Tenn., facility takes an important step toward a targeted grand opening in the spring of 2017.
Developers now have permission to do a little brush clearing, but an applied-for permit from the Tennessee Valley Authority, when approved, will turn construction crews loose on the Tims Ford Lake project expected to begin this spring.
“TVA is actively beginning the permit process,” said David English, who with Adam Casey and David Kiger makes up the development group Twin Creeks Marina and Resort LLC.
“Generally, that takes about four to six months for a review and a response from them,” English said. “We think everything is fine with our permit application. We’re ready to go as soon as they issue the permit.
“We have targeted a soft opening for Memorial Day of 2017,” he said.
