Dangers of legalizing marijuana

Numerous serious crimes have been linked to marijuana dispensaries in states that have made “medical marijuana” legal.

Most recently, authorities in Southern California arrested nearly a dozen people across the region on suspicion of dealing a variety of drugs. The police raids “targeted a single group of criminals illegally making and selling cocaine, meth and marijuana at medical marijuana dispensaries,” The Associated Press reported.

So it appears that at least some proprietors of “medical marijuana” dispensaries were not content to dispense marijuana. They wanted to “branch out” into other destructive drugs as well. “Legal” marijuana facilities have also been the site of serious criminal activity in Colorado, Washington state and elsewhere. Some of the incidents have even been deadly – including the gunning down of a security guard who was standing watch at a marijuana store in Los Angeles.

We would note that there have been rumblings among some lawmakers here in Tennessee about legalizing “medical marijuana.” But wouldn’t it be wise to see what the results have been in other states before we go down that path?
