The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement today raided two convenience stores, a tanning salon and two other commercial sites in Rossville and Flintstone for illegal gambling, the GBI says.
“Multiple felony arrests are pending as a result of a lengthy investigation by the GBI and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office,” the state agency said in a news release. No names were immediately released.
Search warrants were executed at the following business locations:
- Citgo Discount Market, 1430 Wilson Road, Rossville
- Rossville Food Mart, 1436 Wilson Road, Rossville
- Maximum Tan, 3277 Chattanooga Valley Road, Flintstone
- Unnamed commercial sites at 6058 and 6060 Highway 193, Flintstone.
More than 30 agents, investigators and deputy sheriffs executed the search warrants simultaneously, collecting evidence and seizing money and coin-operated amusement machines.
The GBI said the two convenience stores were licensed for the machines but were making cash payouts to winning customers. In Georgia, credits may only be redeemed for lottery tickets and/or store merchandise.
The tanning salon and the strip mall suite are not licensed to operate coin operated amusement machines and were in violation of Georgia law and Georgia Lottery rules and regulations, the release stated.
