“Beauty and the Beast” may be a tale as old as time, but Closed Door Entertainment’s 30-member cast and 18-piece orchestra are breathing new life into the classic fairy tale.
Now showing at Ringgold’s The Colonnade, the play runs Dec. 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Doors open at 7 p.m.
“I think the audience will be mesmerized in the first five minutes of the show,” said Closed Door Entertainment Director and Producer JC Smith, adding that all performances are interpreted for the deaf. “It sets the stage for the magic to come.”
The story is about a prince transformed into a beast that must compel a young woman to fall in love with him before the last petal falls off an enchanted rose, or he will remain a beast for all time.
“It really is a tale as old as time, looking past outer ugliness to inner beauty,” said Fort Oglethorpe’s Andrew Boone, adding that playing Beast is a dream come true for him. “The Beast mask is sweaty, hot and uncomfortable, but it’s worth it. The Beast wants to be loved too.”
