HIXSON: All Candidate’s Forum

This month’s meeting of the Hixson Council of the Chamber of Commerce will be Wednesday, Feb. 24. The program will consist of an All Candidate’s Forum for candidates running for the 3rd District congressional seat now held by U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn. The meeting will take place at the North River Civic Center and will begin at 11:30 a.m. in order to have ample time for this important program. There is a $10 charge for lunch. The meeting date was changed from Feb. 17 due to the Annual Business Expo taking place on that date.

The Friends of Hixson recently met with the Public Art Committee to discuss the next step for the purchasing the existing piece of art “Arise,” located at Hixson Pike and Access Road. The group also is looking for another location and financing for additional pieces of art in the Hixson area. It needs more corporate and business financial support for this ongoing project. The Hixson community has shown strong support for this endeavor.

The City of Chattanooga’s Drivers Education Program, which began last month, has had an impressive beginning. City residents ages 15 through 18 are eligible. Classes at Greenway Farm will begin March 15. For additional information, contact Caroline Johnson at Johnson_c@chattanooga.gov.
