CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A sculptor near Fort Campbell has fitted a new marble head to the body of an 81-year-old memorial to World War I veterans.
The original head had been damaged beyond repair.
The Doughboy statue with its new head will be officially unveiled during a dedication ceremony Thursday. Sculptor Scott Wise of Clarksville spent about two months carving the statue’s head.
According to The Leaf-Chronicle, about $35,000 was raised to renovate the statute.
