MIAMI – Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck has been understandably vague when asked whether he will enter the NFL draft or return to Stanford for his junior season. But specifics will be coming soon.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Jan. 15, and Luck may take most, if not all of the time provided.
“It’s a big life decision, so I’d better put some thought into it,” he said Monday before the Cardinal’s 40-12 Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech.
Luck certainly did nothing to hurt his draft status, completing 18 of 23 passes for 287 yards and four touchdowns. For most players, the prospect of being the No. 1 overall pick would be too good to pass up. But Luck is not most players.
His family isn’t strapped financially, nor is Luck wide-eyed about the draft process or playing in the NFL. (His father, Oliver, played quarterback for the Houston Oilers and is now the athletic director at West Virginia.)
