Two engine companies, two service companies, and a total of 13 personnel were dispatched to extinguish a pile of clothing that caught fire this afternoon, authorities said.
Tri-Community Fire Department Assistant Chief Dennis Thomason said a neighbor called in a fire at a residence on Thoroughbred Drive in Ooltewah. No one was home at the time of the fire, he said.
The fire was caused by the pile of clothing, which covered up a plug-in night light, Mr. Thomason said. Heat from the light source caused the fire, and it was extinguished with a minimal amount of water, he said.
