This time of year I am watchful for the first blooms of wisteria as I make the drive to Riverside Catfish House. Throughout the spring, thick clusters of the purple vine flower canopy the scenic highway bending alongside the Tennessee River.
Ah, yes, spring is springing to life. The daffodils and dogwoods are in bloom and pollen is falling from the sky like snow.
“My sinuses are killing me!” said Riverside owner Cynthia Massengale.
The lot of the Scenic City can relate, including this girl. But Cynthia does not have the time to slow down. The maple trees aren’t the only thing budding. Indeed, Riverside Catfish is growing too.
First, Riverside Catfish is doing construction on an expanded back deck that will offer new patio seating. With barges passing on the water below and eagles nesting nearby, outdoor dining at Riverside is sure to be a quintessential Chattanooga experience. It is also sure to draw a crowd. In order to accommodate, Cynthia plans to start opening on Thursdays beginning late spring.
