B. B. Comer Public Boat Ramp in Jackson County closed till July

The B.B. Comer public boat landing on Lake Guntersville in Jackson County, Ala., temporarily closed May 30 for the demolition of the old Highway 35 Bridge over the Tennessee River at Scottsboro.

The boat landing will reopen July 4 upon completion of the demolition project, according to the Alabama Department of Conservation and natural Resources.

The old bridge over the last three years or so was the target of preservation efforts but without local government support the effort fell short. A new, modern bridge was built alongside the steel truss bridge built in 1927.

Meanwhile, other nearby public boat landings include Scottsboro City Park off Winn Road in Scottsboro, Jackson County Park on County Park Road in Scottsboro, and the Chisenhall Spring public boat ramp located 3 miles south of the B.B. Comer ramp on County Road 67, officials said.

Anglers and boaters can find more information about this and other public boating access areas provided by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources can visit boatramps.dcnr.alabama.gov or call the Fisheries Section at 334-242-3471.
