Cooper: Warning us against Trump

Members of supposedly unbiased media organizations have begun to shuck their cloaks of nonpartisanship in front of God and everybody to warn against the presidency of Donald J. Trump.

Our problems with the Republican nominee are many and serious, but we find these actions the height of hypocrisy.

It wouldn’t matter if the last name of the GOP standard- bearer were Bush, Rubio, Cruz, Christie, Carson, Kasich, Walker or Paul, because these same alleged nonpartisan news gatherers would be attempting to dig up the tiniest speck of dirt or sensationalize the most innocent remark on them and do all in their power to promote the candidacy of the Democrat nominee, be it Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders or Martin O’Malley.

They did it, after all, to Republicans Mitt Romney, John McCain (but especially Sarah Palin), George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, just to name a few.

Study after study has shown the left-wing bias of Big Media, often called old media, mainstream media or legacy media. According to 2014 research by Indiana University professors of journalism, just 7 percent of journalists self-identify as Republicans.
