A Cohutta, Ga., man was killed Sunday night when the motorcycle he was driving struck a car head-on in downtown Ringgold.
Gary Eugene Burress Jr., 30, of Cohutta, was killed in the crash about 8:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Witnesses told troopers that the motorcycle crossed a double-yellow line to pass a car on U.S. Highway 41 near the Dodge dealership and struck a Hyundai Accent.
Authorities say Burress was driving at a high speed and died instantly.
The driver in the Hyundai was transported to Erlanger hospital for treatment of minor injuries, officials said.
