Wednesday’s recap: Edgar Corcino and LaMonte Wade each went 3-for-5, and Nick Gordon hit a three-run home run as Chattanooga won the series opener and moved within one victory of clinching the Southern League’s North Division first-half title. The Lookouts (39-27) blew the game open in the second inning, when T.J. White hit a homer to left field and Gordon launched his three-run homer to right for a 4-0 advantage. That was more than enough support for Lookouts starter Fernando Romero, who struck out seven and allowed one run in seven innings.
Next up: Game two of a five-game series against Tennessee in Kodak is tonight at 7.
Pitchers: Stephen Gonsalves (2-2, 3.00) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Duane Underwood (5-4, 5.11) scheduled for the Smokies.
