CLEVELAND, Tenn. – If these prove to be Karsee Weber’s final days of competitive basketball, she certainly isn’t wasting them.
Bradley Central’s senior shooting guard with a sweet long-range stroke stepped up in pressure-packed moments to lift the Bearettes to their seventh straight region championship with a 55-43 win over McMinn County on Wednesday night.
Weber led her team with 16 points and made five 3-pointers, going 4-for-5 from behind the arc after halftime at Jim Smiddy Arena. Her biggest shots included a 3 from the left corner to put Bradley Central (29-3) ahead by 14 points with just more than two minutes left in the third quarter.
Despite being in foul trouble, Weber came back in the game to help fight off a late charge by the Lady Cherokees (20-10), making two more 3s a minute apart to build a 49-41 lead with 2:10 left to play.
“Tonight was the first time all year Karsee has had to sit down because of foul trouble,” Bradley Central coach Jason Reuter said. “She comes out with no fear and makes five of eight from the 3-point line on a night we had to sit her multiple times. I don’t know how I am going to replace her shooting next year.
