GOP sat back, lost control
Re: Page One Monday story titled “Election 2016: How elites in the GOP lost control of the party:”
The headline caught my attention. In many areas and actions too numerous to list, the GOP sat back and let President Obama have his way and very seldom took any strong action to stop him.
This continues right up to the present. The average American is past tired of the way things have gone in our country. Donald Trump knew the problems that were being talked among families, friends, union workers and in churches. He seized on these problems and has now “captured the hearts” of a large number of voters and is bringing out new voters who want to vote for him and his ideas.
No matter whom you have voted for now or in the past, you need to accept the fact that “dawn has come to America.” Things will never be the same in future elections. A true third party may arise from the current turmoil we are seeing. We don’t have “statesmen” anymore who can lead and compromise for the good of all our citizens.
