The Chattanooga area is expected to see severe weather Friday afternoon and evening, including potential damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.
A tornado watch was in effect for Hamilton County until 8 p.m. Severe wind gusts caused power outages throughout the Chattanooga area, which may affect traffic signals. If a traffic light it out, drivers should treat it as a four-way stop, according to a CDOT news release.
Flooded locations and downed trees can be reported by dialing the 311 service center from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 423-643-6311, or if after hours and on weekends by dialing the Chattanooga Police Department’s non-emergency number at 423-698-2525.
The rain and storms are expected to miss a few spots as it won’t be a solid coverage area. Wind gusts will increase to 15-30mph in the afternoon and evening, our partner Local 3 News reports.
