Dalton: Police need help identifying four people who robbed jewelry store

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help to identify four people investigators say were involved in the theft of nearly $5,000 in jewelry from a Dalton retailer.

According to a news release, the theft occurred around 2:45 p.m. on June 22nd at the Casa Blanca’s jewelry store at 1100 East Walnut Ave. Three black men and one black woman were recorded on the store’s surveillance system arriving within a short time of each other, police said.

The woman kept the clerk occupied, asking to see different pieces, while one of the men near the front of the store opened a display case and removed at least five rings with a total value of about $5,000, police said.

After the items were taken, the group left the store together. The store manager didn’t realize the items were gone until time to take them back out of the display cases for closing, according to police.

The man who opened the display case and took the jewelry was wearing a white polo-type shirt, had close-cropped hair and a moustache and wore large, dark sunglasses, the release states.

Anyone with information about the four people or the theft is asked to call detective Ricky Long with the Dalton Police Department at 706-278-9085, extension 168.
