Barnsley Resort is an ideal country escape just over an hour from Chattanooga

I'm always looking for quick getaways only an hour or two from Chattanooga, and my husband and I recently had the opportunity to return to Barnsley Resort, a North Georgia countryside retreat I've enjoyed since my first childhood visit with my grandparents. Barnsley was then more of a site of historical interest than a resort, where you could explore the gardens and the ruins of the manor house on the old Godfrey Barnsley estate.

How to make the ‘Goodnight Moon’ from Rosecomb in Chattanooga’s Riverview neighborhood

A variation on a black Manhattan, the Goodnight Moon is made with a half-ounce of Amaro Averna - rather than the full ounce typically used in a black Manhattan - and the addition of a half-ounce of Tattersall Sour Cherry Liqueur, "just to give it a bit more whimsical feel, a little fruit to it," says Ryan Smith, who co-owns the recently opened Rosecomb pub with his wife, Chloe Wright.
