New drug trial at Erlanger will focus on patients with severe bleeding

An international study to see if severely bleeding patients' survival rates improve when they're given a blood clotting drug soon after arriving at the hospital is set to begin in Chattanooga later this year. But unlike typical clinical trials, the research team won't be able to get patient or family consent to participate because those seriously injured patients would likely bleed to death first.
