Solomon, in his book of Proverbs, had much to say about different characters he had come to know along the way, many of them, to put it kindly, "not so bright."

Children of preachers have a unique life. When a man heeds the call to ministry, and a wife willingly joins her husband in ministry, children are plopped into all of it with no say in the matter.

It was predictable, really, that my weekly "A few early morning pics from CBC" on my Pastor Bo Wagner Facebook page this past Sunday drew scrutiny and criticism. Any time I ever post anything showing symbols of America, it happens.

You should know that not much scares me. I have had guns pointed at me on multiple occasions, had a knife in my face, been bitten by a huge copperhead, stood in front of thousands of people who did not know me to speak and earned a black belt in Japanese Shotokan, meaning that I got beaten to a pulp by a bunch of better black belts than I will ever be.

It has been four months since I last rounded up my mental squirrels. Further, the news of the past few weeks has added a few bunnies, gerbils and perhaps a weasel or two to them, so I need to get all of them corralled.

In last week's column, I began to deal with the issue of church hurt. I pointed out that in some cases, the church hurt card is merely an excuse for wanting to live a sinful life without anyone being allowed to speak against it, but in other cases, it is a real hurt brought on by real unkindness and/or unbiblical behaviors and attitudes from those who damage the sheep rather than caring for the sheep.

It may have been around longer, but it has only been in the past few years that I began to hear the term "church hurt."

I did not lose my lunch. Let's go ahead and answer that question right off the bat. I did consider it, though. People who have never been in a two-G rolling dive have no idea what that can do to a person's stomach.

He does not often fall silent, my father-in-law.
