Opinion: To the people mad about Biden forgiving student loans: You’re wrong, get over yourselves
I attended an extremely poor, extremely diverse high school in Sacramento where we were constantly told that attending college was the only way to pull ourselves out of poverty and reach the middle class. But the only way to afford the ridiculous cost of even community college or a state school was via loans so predatory that they all but ensured we would never be able to pull ourselves out of debt.

Opinion: Give schools the same energy we gave the Lookouts stadium
Here is a challenge for every elected city, county and state official in Hamilton County: Expend as much energy fighting to find public money -- or issue bonds and go into debt, whatever it takes -- on Hamilton County schools and students as you recently threw around like confetti to celebrate your intense determination to build a $79.5 million stadium for the wealthy owners and investors of the Chattanooga Lookouts.

Opinion: Por favor [Please], let’s give Hamilton County school diversity a chance
Why is it that Chattanooga's so-called conservatives seem to collectively lose their minds over diversity, equity and immigrants?

-
Opinion: Why diabetics need to vote
It's amazing that Medicare recipients just gained a cap on what they will pay for insulin. It's incredible considering the pharmaceutical industry's lobbying efforts against any price controls or negotiations. Spearheaded by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, often known as Pharma, those efforts have been ongoing for years. And in September 2021, it was reported by The Hill that Pharma was launching a seven-figure ad campaign against the proposals moving through Congress to allow negotiation of drug prices.

Opinion: No, English-learners are not a problem
Board of Education member Rhonda Thurman got it wrong. She's taking a strength -- diversity -- and casting it as some sort of weakness. She is calling out less than 10% of students in our county schools. Not all of those are new English learners. They are not overwhelming our schools.
