When the national debt is $12.8 trillion, and increasing minute by minute, and when President Barack Obama is proposing a budget that, despite already too-high taxes, is planned to be more than $1 trillion in the red for 2010, isn’t Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., obviously right when he says there is a great need for debt control?
“The elephant in the room is getting control of our fiscal affairs,” Sen. Corker said.
He noted that the accumulation of the red ink in 2009 and before — with more debt being added in 2010 — plus Social Security and Medicare and other “entitlement” programs paying out more than is coming in, “undermines our economic and national security.”
Wouldn’t you feel much more confident if Sen. Corker’s economic view rather than President Obama’s view prevailed in our nation’s taxing and spending?
