One of the fine traditions of our Hamilton County Deportment of Education is the annual Superintendent’s Honors Banquet. It honors the top 10 percent of our county’s public school seniors for their educational accomplishments.
Several hundred students and their proud parents gathered at the Convention Center on Monday night for deserved recognition, togetherness, entertainment and good will.
Schools Superintendent Jim Scales offered the honored seniors a future in teaching in Hamilton County schools if they choose to go on to college and prepare themselves with education courses to become local teachers.
It was an encouraging occasion for fine achievers. The accomplished students are on a good track for further education and greater accomplishments in their lives in the years ahead.
They deserve congratulations and encouragement.
