Dr. Kevin Ford, director of choirs at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, announces that auditions for the UTC Master Chorale will begin Monday and continue through April 30.
The Master Chorale is a graduate-level chorus, founded to provide a summer ensemble experience for graduate music students and area community members.
The group performs an advanced level of music and presents a concert at the conclusion of the six-week session. This summer’s literature will include works by Eric Whitacre, Henry Purcell and Reneé Clausen.
Beginning May 4, singers will rehearse on Tuesday evenings for two weeks, then Tuesday and Thursday nights for the next three weeks. The week of June 7, singers will rehearse Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings with their concert on Friday, June 11.
Dr. Ford said all voices are welcome, but qualified male singers are especially needed. The short audition consists of singing “My Country ’tis of Thee,” a range check, ear training and/or short sight-reading check.
The chorale’s full schedule and literature are posted online at www.utc.edu/Faculty/Kevin-Ford/SummerChorale.htm.
Anyone wishing to audition should contact Dr. Ford at 425-5243 or e-mail Kevin-Ford@utc.edu.
