Shock and anxiety struck a number of people in Calhoun, Ga., last Thursday as a sudden explosion destroyed a home in the community about halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta.
“Natural gas is suspected as the cause of the explosion; however, as yet no specific liability has been noted,” Georgia Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine said shortly after the blast. “The investigation is ongoing.”
While damage was extensive, there most fortunately were no reports of loss of life or serious personal injuries.
Most of us have good reasons to feel that “my home is my castle,” where peace and safety prevail. So it surely was quite scary for some people when a home explosion threatened people and property with possible sudden destruction.
