If a uniformed army of a foreign nation invaded the United States, it is certain that our armed forces – and our people as a whole – would mobilize to repel the invaders.
But amazingly, we are allowing the invasion of the United States by many millions of people – 11 million or 20 million? – who have no legal right to be here. That hordes have come, and continue to come, not as uniformed enemies but just as people who want a better life here, should not cause us to tolerate their defiance of our borders, our federal and state laws and our citizens.
We have laws to provide for the legal entry of specified numbers of people in accord with specified procedures. But illegal immigration has been massive, flagrant – and amazingly tolerated.
Current news from Washington says the United States Senate “will make another stab” to defend our nation by appropriating $600 million – more – to strengthen border security.
The problem of massive illegal invasion has prevailed and increased over many years because there has not been sufficient determination by our officials to do their basic duty to defend the borders of our country and our citizens.
We understand the desire of millions of foreigners to better their lives by coming into the United States. But a nation that does not enforce its laws and protect its borders and citizens invites tremendous crimes, economic problems and other dangers.
