Golfer after golfer looked at the Cleveland Invitational scoreboard and couldn’t believe all of the black and the lack of sup-par red numbers.
Many felt the course was set up, especially on the front, for the taking.
Matt Robertson had it. Then gave it away.
Playing in the last group of day, Robertson shot a 5-under 67 at Cleveland Country Club on Saturday and will head into the final round with a two-shot lead over former Lee University teammate Matt Hadden.
“It was that far away from being a 60,” said Robertson as he held his index finger less than an inch from his thumb. “That close. Take away one bad swing and a three-putt and I would have been 9 under with six holes to go. And one’s a par 5 and two are short par 4s.”
