Lookouts snap losing skid

Chattanooga closer Jon Huber allowed a pair of singles to open the ninth inning but recovered with a strikeout and a double play as the Lookouts (18-25) ended a six-game losing streak with a 5-4 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Monday.

The Lookouts led wire-to-wire, taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning on the strength of leadoff singles by Dee Gordon, Elian Herrera and Trayvon Robinson, who drove in two runs.

Matt Wallach led off the second with a double to center and later scored, and a Kyle Russell home run to right led off the fourth inning.

Russell’s homer was his seventh since joining the team in early June.

Game four of a five-game series in Carolina is tonight at 7:15.

Chris Withrow (3-8, 5.29) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Scott Carroll (3-6, 2.96) scheduled for the Mudcats.
