We try hard to avoid typos and silly errors. Yet they often slip in, and somehow survive several sets of eyes. The error this page contained in Wednesday’s lead editorial, however, was a real blooper. We inadvertently said the $26 billion aid bill to states would save or create 300 million jobs. We intended to say 300,000 jobs. Big difference. The former would account for virtually every noninfant citizen. The 300,000 figure is, of course, several decimal points removed. We’re embarrassed. Please accept our red-faced apology.
