Thursday: Mocs football practice report

After a subpar performance Wednesday, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team had one of its better practices of the preseason this morning at Scrappy Moore Field.

“I thought it was a really good practice,” coach Russ Huesman said. “We got some things done: we got the 4-minute drill in there, we put it in the red zone and we looked good.”

Today is the second of UTC’s three two-a-days and the Mocs will return to Scrappy at 7 p.m. for a shorter, lighter workout. The team’s first preseason scrimmage is Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Finley Stadium.

The offense was productive in the red zone, with freshman running back Keon Williams scoring on a couple of runs of about 20 yards. Wideout Brian Sutherland caught a screen pass from B.J. Coleman and cut upfield for a score, and Joel Bradford caught a Coleman pass in the back of the end zone.
