FORT PAYNE, Ala. – A Grove Oak, Ala., man charged with two counts of rape has been indicted on new charges dating from a 1990 case.
Christopher Todd Richey, 43, was charged with one count of first-degree rape. He turned himself in Thursday and was released on a $50,00o bond, Sheriff Jimmy Harris said in a news release.
Richey was charged in April with two counts of first-degree rape of a girl under age 16, records show. Harris said a woman who read of those charges came forward to say Waters also had raped her in 1990, when she was 16.
He said sheriff’s office investigator Mary Waters collected evidence and conducted interviews, and the grand jury returned an indictment last week.
