DALTON, Ga. – Through dark tinted glass, Cpl. Kris Hemphill focuses on a driver’s window and sees the 35-year-old woman tapping on her Blackberry screen.
Flashing his blue lights, the Georgia State trooper signals for the driver of the white Mitsubishi to pull off Chattanooga Road near the train tracks.
“I saw you had your phone in your hand,” Hemphill said when he reaches the passenger window. “Are you texting and driving?”
Hemphill, who patrols from the Georgia State Patrol office in Dalton, said state troopers are now on the lookout for drivers texting.
