Where: George’s, 1501 E. 23rd St.
What: The restaurant isn’t fancy, but the menu is full of flavor. For his fried chicken, a customer favorite, owner George Robinson cuts fresh boneless chicken breasts into strips, then marinates the pieces in milk and egg thickened with a little flour. The mixture gives the chicken a crispier texture, he said. The chicken is then breaded with more flour and fried to a golden crisp. It’s juicy, not dry, and people have been known to drive from across town for it, Robinson said.
Price: $5.95 comes with two sides; $5.25 every Wednesday.
