The Hamilton County Commission office on Tuesday released another candidate for mayor, saying it received the name before the Dec. 17 deadline but forgot to send it to the media.
The candidate is Chester I. Clark, 65, and he describes himself as a “qualified voter who has lived and resided in Chattanooga-Hamilton County for the past 29 years.”
The note, which is handwritten, was not received in full by the Times Free Press and attempts to reach Clark have so far been unsuccessful.
Commission staff said they received his letter Dec. 16.
There are now nine people in the running for county mayor. Mayor Claude Ramsey leaves in January to join the staff of Gov.-elect Bill Haslam.
