Lt. Gov. Ramsey chief of staff leaving

NASHVILLE – Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey’s chief of staff, Matt King, is leaving his position later this month to become vice president of state affairs for UnitedHealthcare, a medical insurer.

Ramsey, R-Blountville, who is Senate speaker, said King “played a huge role in creating the Republican majority in the Senate and has been a trusted friend and advisor. I wish him well in his new endeavor.”

King leaves on Dec. 30. He will be in charge of UnitedHealthcare’s government relations shop for Tennessee, Arkansas and North Carolina. He has served as Ramsey’s chief of staff since Ramsey was elected Senate speaker in January 2007.

There has been no immediate decision made on a replacement.
