We happily have enjoyed the Christmas season and its message of “peace on Earth, good will to men.” But we must face the harsh fact that we still lack peace and good will in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Except for those of us with family members in Iraq and Afghanistan, many may pay little attention to those wars. But in Afghanistan since 2001, there have been more than 1,100 American battle deaths. And in Iraq since 2003, there have been more than 3,500 battle deaths.
No certain peace is in sight as vicious enemies continue both wars.
