ATLANTA – Gov. Sonny Perdue said a transportation plan, debated for years, may finally pass this session with support from the House and Senate.
“I’ve been a stick in the mud that said we weren’t going to provide any more money until we have a governance system that can spend that money wisely,” Gov. Perdue said in an news conference this afternoon.
He also announced suspended restrictions on MARTA’s funds and proposed a 2012 statewide vote for his regional transportation plan.
Gov. Perdue said if the public approves the bill in 2012, the state should begin collecting transportation funds immediately that year.
