Hamilton County: House fire blamed on meth lab

A local woman was arrested after firefighters were called to a house fire believed to have been caused by a suspected methamphetamine lab, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tri Community Fire Department was called to 1259 Lester Lane about 4:50 p.m. today in response to a house fire, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Upon arrival it was determined that the fire was the result of a suspected meth lab, the release states.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives from the narcotics division were called to the scene, where officers received information that several parties ran from the residence before authorities arrived, said Janice Atkinson, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

Angela Thompson, a female resident at the location, was arrested and charged with promotion and manufacturing methamphetamine as well as child endangerment, Ms. Atkinson said. Child Protective Services was notified to take custody of an 8-year-old child, she said.

Narcotics division detectives are continuing to investigate the situation.
